J-14 Review - Greek: Chapter 4 DVD

GreekChapter4DVD.jpg

Hey J-14ers!

ABC Family's Greek: Chapter 4 DVD is here, and it's filled with extra
goodies essential for every die-hard Greek fan's collection! As a huge
fan of the show, I couldn't wait to get an exclusive sneak peak!

The second half of season 2 continues the saga of your fave Cyprus-Rhodes University characters as they return from summer vacation for a brand new year. There's a new character on the scene, Andy, Omega Chi's most sought after freshman. Not only is Andy a star football player, he's played by the super cute singer Jesse McCartney! Meanwhile, Rusty struggles with balancing Greek life and a crazy engineering program, Frannie leaves ZBZ to start a new sorority, and Casey keeps finding new ways to worry about her relationship with Max. But my fave part? I absolutely love Cappie and Evan's frenemy quarrels and drama in this Chapter - thanks to these two, their rival fraternities give us so many memorable (and hilarious) moments!

This three-disc set includes all 12 episodes of Season 2 plus some fun bonus features, including episodes commentaries by the cast and crew, a Greek recap to catch you up on what you missed, a hilarious blooper reel, Jesse McCartney's awesome music video "How Do You Sleep?," and a behind-the-scenes filming of the last episode, "At The World's End." Posed with the question what you would do if the world were coming to an end in 24 hours got many hilarious responses from this crazy cast
and crew making this one memorable feature! Who knew the cast is full of so many jokesters? Though this is definitely no collector's edition jam packed with extras, the show itself is enough to make it worth a watch.

If you haven't seen the show, it's not too late to give Greek the good ol' college try! The DVD hits stores March 9, and you can watch new episodes every Monday night at 10 p.m. ET on ABC Family.

Tell us -- are you watching Greek? Who's your fave character?

5 Reasons Remember Me's Tyler Hawkins Might Be As Lovable as Twilight's Edward Cullen

EdwardRememberMe.jpg

From the first time my eyes saw the words "Edward Cullen" in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight book, it was love at first read. Every line out of his mouth made my heart melt just a little bit more. (It went as far as me forcing my mom to read the books so she could get to know her "future son-in-law" -- seriously!)

And when Rob Pattinson was cast to play him in the The Twilight Saga films, my obsession for Team Edward spiked to a whole new level. His brooding looks, those little smiles cracking from the corners of his lips, and the beyond romantic ways he did anything and everything.

So when I first saw the trailers for Rob's new film, Remember Me (opening March 12), I was fully aware this was no Edward Cullen. And in all honesty, nothing about the preview made me want to see the film. Sure, I'm a sucker for a coming-of-age tale packed with romance, but he just seemed so unrelatable.

And then I found out the ending. I won't spoil it for you guys, but accidentally finding out how it concluded made me need to see the film... right away. And luckily enough, last Monday after covering the red carpet premiere of the film and chatting with all the cast and crew about it, I was able to see it right away. And W-O-W.

Let's just say, this is one affective film that will stick with you for the rest of your life. But a big part of it is the way that Rob plays the very-human character of Tyler Hawkins.

So I'm officially launching Team Tyler right now... starting with my Top 5 reasons you might just fall in love with Tyler as much as Edward (I won't go as far as saying more than Tyler...yet...)

1- The lamely adorable way he picks up girls -- just wait until you see him work the charm with Ally (Emilie de Ravin).

2- The too-cute way he says, "Abso-freakin'-lutely!" to his little sister Caroline (Ruby Jerins) when she asks if he'll go to her art show.

3- His heart-wrenching relationship with his deceased older brother... so close that the moment he falls in love, he rushes off to write to him about her at their favorite diner.

4- His determination -- he does everything he can to win Ally a gigantic bear at the carnival... and ends up paying for it!

5- The big brother heart that has him carrying a pink sleeping bag, defending her against mean girls, and reading stories about Greek gods to her in bed to make her feel better. Awww!

So get ready to fall in love with another of Rob's characters (I started way back with Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire!) in a whole new way!

Are you planning on seeing Remember Me? Why or why not?

Can't wait to hear from you!

Officially Obsessed: Project Runway for Wii!

ProjectRunwayWii.jpg
Hello J-14ers!
When I was a teen I filled up multiple notebooks with endless fashion sketches and was always cutting up tees and even making little dresses for Barbie. Naturally, when Project Runway first came on TV, I was instantly hooked -- and my DVR has never been the same since. It's one of those shows that my roommates or my friends and I plan TV night around. We love to watch and dish on which outfits we would wear and what designers should stay or go (Amy Sarabi is my current fave)!

When I found out about the Project Runway video game for Wii (it debuted on shelves this week -- go out and grab a copy!) I was ecstatic! TV night is one thing, but this Atari video game really brings the runway to your living room. You are given different design challenges and then get to dress up your models from hair to shoe. I'm also a big beauty gal and loved doing up my models in the game's hair and makeup studio. You also get to be the model and strut the catwalk -- even Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum will make an appearance. Check out the screenshot of the game below:

PRScreenshot.jpg

J-14 and Atari are giving away five copies of the game on our site -- click here to enter! You can also pick it up or order it here (free shipping and a $5 coupon!) and tweet about your designs or become a fan on the game's Facebook page!

Are you watching Project Runway this season? Dish with me below on what your favorite part of the show is! Do you Project Runway for Wii? Tell me about your best design!

Auf wiedersehen!

American Idol: Getting to the Top 16 Wasn't So Sweet

AmericanIdolMichelleDelamor.jpg

Hey J-14ers!

Last night was an evening filled with tears as four more Idol hopefuls were sent packing on our favorite reality show, American Idol. After a cute group number, "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, the fun and games were quickly finished and John Park, Jermaine Sellers, Michelle Delamor, and Haeley Vaughn were eliminated. No shockers here. (But admittedly, I was a bit bummed to see John Park go!)

This week was full of chaos when news hit the web that contestant Crystal Bowersox was too sick to perform on Tuesday night's show. During a last minute switch, the guys and girls swamped performance nights and the guys took center stage Tuesday. Though it was possible the boys had gotten the shorter end of the stick with one less day of practice -- I was absolutely shocked when the boys stepped it up as a group and definitely improved from last week's rough show. Cuties Tim Urban, Alex Lambert, and rocker Lee Dewyze were totally awesome!

However, the girl's performances were nothing short of mediocre on Wednesday night. Though Crystal was looking healthy and able to perform, the rest of the girls fell short. Where are the Carries? Where are the Jordins? I know that it's still much too early but I was expecting more, J-14ers. However, I did have two favorites this week -- guitarist Lilly Scott who sang Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" and Katelyn Epperly who sang and played "The Scientist" by Coldplay on the piano. Did anyone else feel like the judges are being way harsh this season? I can't remember ever seeing so many contestants leaving the stage about ready to burst in to tears! Poor kids.

What do you guys think? Did the right four go home? We're down to the Top 16! Is your favorite still in the running? Who are you guys rooting for?

Until next week! Your J-14 Intern,
Nicole

Victoria Justice Covers Lady Gaga

VictoriaJusticeVictorious.jpg

Hey J-14ers,

I just saw this brand new super cute YouTube video of Victoria Justice working with her vocal teacher, and I thought it was really cool for a couple of reasons: one, she actually gets to work with a trainer (lucky girl!); two, the girl can sing; and three, she's not practicing a bunch of boring scales. She's genuinely excited to practice because she's belting out Lady Gaga's "Speechless."

I love how excited Victoria is to not just sing but practice singing. Which got me thinking -- I had teachers back in the day who got me that excited about certain subjects too, like my 8th grade English teacher. He encouraged me to think outside the box by choosing a novel I wanted to read for our major book report that year -- I didn't have to read any of the stuffy classics I wasn't terribly in to. I've wanted to read books from all different genres ever since. Kinda cool, right?

Check out Victoria's video below, then tell me -- what cool alterna-lessons are you learning right now? Who's influencing you?

14 Reasons Justin Bieber's "Baby" Rocks

JustinBieberBabyVideoBLog.jpg
Hello J-14ers and fellow Beliebers,
Resident Justin fangirls and J-14 staffers Katelyn and Lisa here, and we have a really important message: Justin Bieber's new music video for "Baby" IS AWESOME. Like, really awesome. As in, ever since we posted the Biebs' newest music video a week ago, we haven't stopped playing it over and over again in the office and for all of our friends and fams.

We would like to invite you to watch the video with us below and read our play-by-play of Justin Bieber's music video genius.

1. Bowling Alleys: Hanging with friends, rental shoes, a lil' competition? Sounds like a pretty fantastic night to us as well as the perfect setting for a music vid.
2. Justin's Double-Handed Skills at 0:20: Did YOU notice Justin bowling righty?! Crazy, since the singer writes with his left hand FYI.
3. Drake at 1:13: A cameo from our favorite rapper, did you see him and scream at the top of your lungs "DRAAAAKE!" We sure did!
4. Literal Lyric/Dance Moves at 1:32: This is one of our fave lyrics, and the shirt-shaking move fits it so well.
5. Pool Table Roll at 1:34: Best.move.ever.
6. Dance Off at 1:42: Synchronized guy vs. girl dance off with break dancing? Yes, please. We may or may not be learning all the girl's moves...
7. Break Dancing Girl at 1:48: We love how she isn't afraid to show the boys how it's done!
8. Purple Power at 1:52: When we think Justin, we think purple (blame it on the shirt he wore his first time in the J-14 offices!) so we love that he stays true to his roots with those plum-hued high tops.
9. LUDA! at 2:13: We "don't need no Starbucks!" These sweet rhymes are the perfect caffeine substitute.
10. Justin Rapping Along at 2:37: How adorable is Justin mouthing "amazin'" along with Luda? Answer: really adorable.
11. Moonwalk Much? at 3:03: Hmm, can we make it mandatory for him to do that in every video?
12. Justin and Luda Hammin' It Up at 3:16: Between Drake, Ludacris, and of course, Justin, we would have loved to be the fly on the wall when they filmed this.
13. Happy Ending at 3:18 Justin's persistence and earnest "I'm all gone" goodbye brings back our own memories of first love. ::sigh!::
14. Justin Peaces Out at 3:29 The Canadian cutie puts his personal stamp on all of his projects, like his JB-patented peace sign goodbye at the end. We remember it from his J-14 photo shoot!

Now we want to know your favorite "Baby" moments -- why do you love this video? Did we miss anything?!

Hugs + Hair Flips,
Katelyn & Lisa

J-14 Review: MTV's Turn The Beat Around

TurnTheBeatAround.jpg

Hey J-14ers!

If you loved Step Up and Fame, now it's time to get excited for the new MTV original movie, Turn the Beat Around.

Zoe (Romina D'Ugo) is a struggling young dancer in L.A. who can't seem to get a break -- until she meets Michael (David Giuntoli), a wealthy (and cute!) nightclub owner who puts her in charge of choreographing the opening of a disco-themed club. As Zoe's dancing dreams come true, however, her BF (Adam Brooks) thinks Zoe is getting a little too close to Michael and their relationship starts to fall apart. Add to the mix a scheming dancer trying to steal Chris away and it's all out dance warfare!

While most of the cast is new on the scene, you might have caught Romina guest-starring on Degrassi: The Next Generation or David on Privileged. The soundtrack features disco-era remakes by bands like Cobra Starship. Plus, Jason DeRülo makes his acting debut and even gives a special on-screen performance!

You can catch Turn the Beat Around on Friday, Feb. 26 at 10 pm ET/PT on MTV... and then pick up the DVD in stores on March 9!

Are you excited for Turn the Beat Around? What are your fave dance flicks?

Idol's Top 24 -- What Do You Think?

AmericanIdolTop24.jpg

Hey J-14ers!

The Top 24 contestants have finally been revealed, but not without some drama along the way -- from the pleas, the tears, and a Top 24er disqualified from the competition already! Though the season is proving to be one of the most dramatic, this group of Idol hopefuls are some of the most talented that I think we've seen in seasons and I can't wait to see what they belt out in the weeks to follow.

Among the Top 24 are a few front-runner favorites including Aaron Kelly (aka David Archuleta 2.0), new father Michael "Big Mike" Lynche, rocker Crystal Bowersox, and power-house Janell Wheeler. A few of my personal early favorites include rocker Lilly Scott, Broadway alumni Todrick Hall, and off-beat rocker Tyler Grady.

Poor Angela Martin missed the cut by a hair, for reasons that I don't understand. This is where I start to lose faith in Idol especially when this girl has proved for three years in a row that she has the voice and was, in my opinion, a leap better then half of the girls chosen to continue in the competition. But no breaks were cut this year not to mention the cruel torture the judges put these kids through as they await their fates. However, is good luck in her future? New Idol judge and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres had Angela on her show this morning, vowing to help Angela get a record deal. Ellen went on to surprise this ex-Idol contender with great news -- Kara DioGuardi is even going to produce and write a song for her.

American Idol continues Tuesday with the Top 12 girls singing first! I know I can't wait!

So who are your favorites J-14ers? Dish here!

Until next time! Your J-14 Intern,
Nicole

Idol Hopefuls Take on Hollywood Week

EllenDeGeneresAmericanIdol.jpg

Hey J-14ers!

Hollywood Week is finally among us and I couldn't be much happier. I've had enough of the screeching, the sob stories, and the dramatics until next year, and I'm finally ready to see some actual TALENT!

The group rounds are always full of some form of entertainment, not to mention, a reminder that some people just can't work together, no matter how hard they may try (Remember Tatiana's hysterics last season?!) This season was no different with the drama from stealing song arrangements to the group members unhappy with other's taking the reigns. However, I can't lie to you J-14ers! I don't think Idol gave
enough screen time to actual singing rather then the drama that surrounded and consumed these contestants. I'm ready to hear some potential Idol's! Not watch Idol: Version Jerry Springer. LOL!

Team Big Dreams sang (or attempted to sing) a rendition of Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape." They were shockingly bad and all of them were sent packing much to their disbelief.

As a huge fan of Lady Gaga, I was pumped to hear that two groups were singing an a capella version of "Bad Romance." However, I wasn't too happy to hear the final products that were just bland and mediocre (Besides the guy that did an awesome back flip. Wait, what does that have to do with singing?) Both members of Group Neopolitan and group Destiny's Wild made it, some in my opinion, undeservingly.

One hopeful that has really stood out so far is Big Mike's (aka Michael Lynche), who not only has to deal with the stress of being on a national TV show, but has a wife in labor all at the same time. Thankfully, he made it through the group round, is now a father to a baby girl, and is one of the 71 hopefuls left standing. Quite an accomplishment if you ask me! Michael Castro (Season Seven finalist Jason Castro's brother) wasn't as lucky and got the boot for the 2nd season in a row. Bummer.

And what happened to cutie finalist Aaron Kelly? Though we know he made it to the next round, I would have liked to see him get a bit more screen time. But all in all, I can't wait to find out the top 24 this Wednesday!

So who are your favorites, J-14ers? Who do you want to make it? Dish with me!

Your J-14 Intern,
Nicole
